The Blue Pool Bermagui at high tide

There are a number of rock pools in Australia, but surely, none of them can be more beautiful than the Blue Pool in Bermagui. Perched at the foot of the cliffs, the ocean and rugged cliff views are simply stunning.
There are actually two pools; a small one for toddlers and a much larger pool for lap swimmers. One of the main attractions of genuine rock pools is that the water is
replenished twice daily at high tide by the ocean. Thus the pool offers another attraction; equipped with a mask and snorkel you can explore the wildlife.
Obviously the water is calmest at low tide, indeed at high tide it can be dangerous in bad weather, so check the weather forecast and tide chart before planning a visit. The facilities are great; toilet, changing room and shower and good parking, and it is free, but there is no wheelchair access and the steps down to the pool are fairly steep.
From Hobbs Point Cottage it is a comfortable 40 minutes drive through very attractive country, especially as you pass Wallaga Lake. Once in Bermagui, you drive to the end of the towns main street, Lamont St, and turn right onto the Scenic Drive. After about 700 metres, turn left into the Blue Pool carpark. Enjoy!
