A couple of years ago, Heide and I took a charter out to Montague Island. It was a memorable trip and here are a couple of Heide’s shots from that trip, plus some information that might be useful.

Montague Island is Narooms’a top tourist attraction, in fact it has twice been recognized as being Australia’s top eco tourism destination. It has so much going for it! Like being a breeding ground for 12,000 Little Penguins, over 1000 Fur Seals, and 15 bird species. Depending on the time year, you might see dolphins, whales or grey nurse sharks on your way to and from the Island. You can book your trip through Operators authorized by NPWS to land tours on Montague Island including:
Narooma Charters – 0407 909 111,  and Island Charters – 0408 428 857

Montague is a mecca for Snorkellers and Divers, particularly Snorkelling with Seals, which you can book with; Light House ChartersNarooma 04412312

It is also a mecca for photographers, with the clear blue sky and ocean providing the perfect background for the beautifully preserved and whitewashed, light house
keeper’s buildings. These photographs are from Heide Smith’s NSW South Coast Collection
